January 29, 2008
Our last club display this year we will be at the USS Arizona Visitor’s Center on the weekend of December 1 and 2. The center opens at 7:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm for both days. The theme will be Pacific War, so everyone is encouraged to bring their models and sit in on the fun!
Speaking of the Arizona Visitor’s Center, December 7th, and models, Brad mentioned that he had been approached by the museum staff to build a 1/6th scale B5N2 Kate torpedo bomber for the entry at the planned new visitor’s center. You read right, 1/6th scale! The full-size Kate had a wingspan of around 50 feet, so the model would be over 8 feet wide. This sounds like a job for the radio-control community. In any case, the project is only in the exploratory planning stage, so it may not “fly”. If anyone has a vacant garage and woodworking/fiberglass experience, let Brad know.
Brad will be hosting the club Christmas party in December, but the exact date is pending and will be announced next month.
The theme for the upcoming November meeting will be “F-14 Night”, so kick those tires, light those fires, and last Tomcat up is a sissy! Oh, Brad said that Tomcats are not allowed to be called sissies. Our apologies, Mr. President.
